Catoctin Mountain Park & Cunningham Falls State Park

A number of federal, state, local and private protected land are located on Catoctin Mountain including; the Emmitsburg Reservoir, Catoctin Mountain Park, Cunningham Falls State Park, the Frederick Municipal Forest, Gambrill State Park, theChesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park.

Catoctin Mountain is best known as the site of Camp David, a mountain retreat for presidents of the United States. It was first used by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1930s, who called it “Shangri-La”.

Cunningham Falls State Park has many leisure activities like swimming, hiking, fishing and canoeing are available. For those who wish to get away for either a night or longer there are campsites and camper cabins available for rental from April through October.
