About Lake Linganore

Lake Linganore Villages are the largest privately held lake community in Maryland. Residents enjoy 5 private lakes, 3 beaches, acres of nature and miles of scenic trails. There are also pools, basketball courts, tot lots and recreation fields.

Lake Linganore was established in 1968 and has had several different builders over the years. To date, there are still hundreds of lots available to build a home.

Linganore is said to get its name from an Indian Chief who once lived along the creek, a member of the Susquehanna tribe. Indian artifacts have been unearthed along the creek, some dating back to 4,000 years B.C. The “Indian Caves” along the lake are a favorite site for hikers on the lake.

There are 18 Villages that make up Lake Linganore, each with its own unique identity, its own board and by-laws. The committees hold social events and activities that strengthen relationships in the neighborhoods. There is always something to do.
