New Market is an easy commute to Frederick via I-70 or Rt. 144, or to Baltimore on I-70. Rt. 75 goes directly south to Montgomery County, or many commuters use I-270.

New Market History

When Frederick was a newly established growing city in 1745, trade routes between Baltimore and Frederick emerged; The National Road, or today’s route 144 became the major route. In 1926, U.S. Route 40 became the major coast to coast highway, which was replaced by I-70 when the interstate system was built.

New Market was officially established in 1793, and developed as a stop along the way, many services that were important to travellers, like blacksmiths, churches, hotels, inns, doctors, taverns, and a post office.
