Farm To Table Frederick
Are you a fan of Farm-to-Table restaurants? Farm-to-Table is a social movement that's all about serving locally grown and sourced food, whether its wine, brews, fish, meat or produce, etc..not strictly a farm. The restaurant usually has a direct relationship with the producer or there might be a community supported agriculture group or local farmer's markets. The movement has grown over the last few years, it seems many are concerned about food safety and small-farm economics. Maryland is notably one of the leaders in small farms (those under 5 acres).
Check out this blog post from a fellow real estate blogger, John Cunningham in Phoenix Arizona. The Farm at Los Olivos is a proposed community farm that aims to bring the dining experiences seen in the farm to table movement down to the budget of middle America. It's an interesting concept. John points out that it will be more than a simple community farm. The land will be professionally farmed. There are plans for an education center, concessions, and architectural design that will be in keeping with the neighborhood. It sounds like a place that residents will want to be.
